Covalence dust is used to repair items and armor. It can be crafted in three different tiers; Low (Green), Medium (Cyan), and High (Blue).

  • t_low_covalence.png Low Covalence Dust can be used to repair wooden and stone tools and leather armor, along with the fishing rod, and is worth 1 EMC.
  • t_mid_covalence.pngMedium Covalence Dust can be used to repair steel and gold tools and armor, along with the flint and steel, and the shears, and is worth 8 EMC.
  • t_high_covalence.png High Covalence Dust can be used to repair diamond tools and armor, and is worth 208 EMC.

All dusts are worth as much EMC as the ingredients used to craft them, no matter what recipe is used. The recipes for making the dusts are shown below.

For a listing of all repair recipes, see Repair Recipes. Covalence dust can be used by the Talisman of Repair to automatically repair your tools.

Repairing an item typically costs one dust per hide/stone/ingot used when creating it. For example, repairing a diamond sword uses two high covalence dusts, while fixing a stone shovel requires one low covalence dust.

Covalence dust is used in the creation of Alchemical Chests, the Talisman of Repair, and Divining Rods.

Version 4 Recipes

There are five ways to craft each tier of Covalence dust:

  1. 2 cobblestone (low), iron ingots (medium), or diamonds (high) + coal will yield 3 dusts.
  2. 3 cobblestone (low), iron ingots (medium), or diamonds (high) + redstone will yield 5 dusts.
  3. 1 cobblestone (low), iron ingots (medium), or diamonds (high) + glowstone dust will yield 2 dusts.
  4. 2 cobblestone (low), iron ingots (medium), or diamonds (high) + alchemic coal will yield 5 dusts.
  5. 1 cobblestone (low), iron ingots (medium), or diamonds (high) + mobius fuel will yield 3 dusts.

Version 4 Cost Comparison

It is worth mentioning that each of the recipes uses between one and three cobblestone, iron ingots or diamonds. But because the relative value of cobblestone versus iron and diamond varies greatly, there's a large difference in the efficiency of the various recipes. Each of the tiers of dust has a different recipe that's cheapest (in terms of redstone dust equivalence) for the crafting of that item. Generally, with the low covalence dust, you want the recipe with the most cobblestone, and the least fuel (cobblestone is much cheaper than the fuels used). For the high covalence dust, you want the recipe with the least number of diamonds, and the highest fuel (diamonds are much more expensive than the fuels used). And medium covalence dust is in the middle (iron is less expensive than all the fuels except for mobius fuel).

The listings below start with the "recipe number" from the top of the page, and are sorted from using the least redstone value to the highest, for each tier. Ideally you should use the top-most recipe for each tier, for the most bang for your buck:

Low

2) 3 cobble + 1 redstone = 5 dust ⇒ 1.6875 redstone + 1 redstone = 5 dust ⇒ dust = 0.5375 redstone
1) 2 cobble + 1 coal = 3 dust ⇒ 1.125 redstone + 1.5 redstone = 3 dust ⇒ dust = 0.875 redstone
4) 2 cobble + 1 alchemical coal = 5 dust ⇒ 1.125 redstone + 10 redstone = 5 dust ⇒ dust = 2.225 redstone, (1.725 w/ Volcanite Amulet)
3) 1 cobble + 1 glowstone dust = 2 dust ⇒ 0.5625 redstone + 6 redstone = 2 dust ⇒ dust = 3.28125 redstone
5) 1 cobble + 1 mobius = 3 dust ⇒ 0.5625 redstone + 30 redstone = 3 dust ⇒ dust = 10.1875 redstone, (7.6875 w/ Volcanite)

Medium

4) 2 iron + 1 alchemical coal = 5 dust ⇒ 48 redstone + 10 redstone = 5 dust ⇒ dust = 11.6 redstone, (11.1 w/ volcanite)
2) 3 iron + 1 redstone = 5 dust ⇒ 72 redstone + 1 redstone = 5 dust ⇒ dust = 14.6 redstone
3) 1 iron + 1 glowstone dust = 2 dust ⇒ 24 redstone + 6 redstone = 2 dust ⇒ dust = 15 redstone
5) 1 iron + 1 mobius = 3 dust ⇒ 24 redstone + 30 redstone = 3 dust ⇒ dust = 18 redstone, (15.5 w/ Volcanite)
1) 2 iron + 1 coal = 3 dust ⇒ 48 redstone + 1.5 redstone = 3 dust ⇒ dust = 16.5 redstone

High

5) 1 diamond + 1 mobius = 3 dust ⇒ 384 redstone + 30 redstone = 3 dust ⇒ dust = 138 redstone, (135.5 w/ Volcanite)
4) 2 diamond + 1 alchemical coal = 5 dust ⇒ 768 redstone + 10 redstone = 5 dust ⇒ dust = 155.6 redstone, (155.1 w/ Volcanite)
3) 1 diamond + 1 glowstone dust = 2 dust ⇒ 384 redstone + 6 redstone = 2 dust ⇒ dust = 195 redstone
2) 3 diamond + 1 redstone = 5 dust ⇒ 1152 redstone + 1 redstone = 5 dust ⇒ dust = 230.6 redstone
1) 2 diamond + 1 coal = 3 dust ⇒ 768 redstone + 1 1/2 redstone = 3 dust ⇒ dust = 256.5 redstone
